CELTIC RACING MOVING FORWARD WITH PLANS FOR 2014 AMA PRO ROAD RACING CAMPAIGN

Celtic Racing plans to continue its participation in the 2014 AMA Pro Racing season. Throughout the years Celtic Racing has developed a reputation that offers sponsors and riders the opportunity to be part of a championship winning team with deep technical resources and partnerships across the industry. Our successes have been due to our dedicated sponsors that understand the role we play in bringing young riding talent to the national stage. We look forward to announcing our 2014 plans at the earliest opportunity, and appreciate all the interest expressed up to this point.

Celtic Racing would like to thank both Michael Jordan Motorsports and the National Guard for all of their support and assistance with our racing efforts over the past seasons. Celtic Racing was able to capture AMA SuperSport championships in 2012 and 2013 by working closely with Michael Jordan Motorsports and the National Guard. We are disappointed to see these partnerships come to a close, and it has been a privilege to work with the men and women of the National Guard while honoring their sacrifices to our country with our racing efforts. It has also been a pleasure to work with the professionals at Michael Jordan Motorsports, and we greatly appreciate the tremendous support of all our team sponsors and loyal fans which have helped to bring us this far forward – Celtic Racing could not have come this far without you!

DENNY HAMLIN SEEKS MARTINSVILLE THREE-PEAT ABOARD FIRST-EVER JORDAN BRAND “JUMPMAN” TRUCK

Press Release from Kyle Busch Motorsports:

Charlotte, N.C. (October 23, 2013) – The Jordan Brand’s iconic Jumpman logo will adorn the No. 51 Toyota Tundra of Denny Hamlin this Saturday, Oct. 26 as he races for his third-straight NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway for Kyle Busch Motorsports.  Hamlin is the two-time defending winner of the Kroger 200 race at Martinsville.

For Hamlin, who began a relationship with the Jordan Brand in 2011 and wears a Jumpman firesuit and racing gloves, it wouldn’t be his first three-peat at Martinsville.  Hamlin won three straight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at the historical Virginia half-mile short track over the 2009-10 seasons.

“To have the Jumpman on the truck at Martinsville is the perfect fit,” said Virginia-native Hamlin, a season ticket holder of Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Bobcats NBA franchise. “Michael has expressed interest in taking the next step with their Jordan Brand sponsorship, so what better opportunity than going after three in a row at one of my favorite tracks.”

While this NASCAR race marks the first-ever primary car or truck sponsorship for the Jordan Brand, the shoe and apparel company has a long track-record of supporting Michael Jordan Motorsports, a motorcycle racing team founded by Jordan in 2004 that competes in the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Championship series.

“Denny is a winner, especially at Martinsville Speedway, where he has ‘home court advantage,’” said Jordan. “When Denny said he wanted to get the three-peat at Martinsville, it was a no-brainer for the Jordan Brand to be a part of it.”

COREY ALEXANDER RACING WITH PTR HONDA FOR FINAL TWO WORLD SUPERSPORT ROUNDS

RECENTLY crowned AMA East Pro Supersport Road Racing Champion Corey Alexander and Britain’s Lee Johnston will step on to the big stage with PTR Honda for the last two rounds of the 2013 World Supersport Championship, starting at Magny Cours in France on October 6th.
Alexander, 19, from New York, said: “I’m really excited for the opportunity to join the PTR Honda team, but even more importantly to make my debut on the world level. It’s truly a dream come true to be able to even ride in Europe, but even more so to represent America in the WSS championship alongside some of the best racers on the planet.
“After wrapping up my first AMA championship I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate! I have to give a huge thanks to my sponsors for making it possible: MJRS Freeman Racing, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, Arai Helmets, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, Celtic Racing, Sportbikes Inc. magazine, Katra Racing and AMMO NYC. Thanks to PTR Honda for inviting me to be a part of their team.”
Johnston, 24, from Kingston upon Hull, an experienced Superstock 1000cc racer and former British Superstock 600 Champion, is well known for his road racing results. He said: “It’s been a few years since I’ve ridden a Supersport bike on a closed circuit, I am looking forward to getting back on one. I do have 600cc experience on the roads recently. These are not circuits I am familiar with but I will do my best. Thank you to my sponsor East Coast Racing and PTR for making this happen, it’s going to be good.”
Britain’s Danny Webb is looking forward to Magny Cours after a strong 18th at the last round in Turkey, just 33-seconds down on the winner at the end of the race in only his second outing on a 600cc race bike. He will be sporting new sponsorship from the Circuit of Wales. Nacho Calero had one of his best races of the year at Turkey and is finishing the year at speed.
Luca Marconi is working hard to get back to the top 10 form he showed earlier in the season. He has never visited the circuit before but is positive before the penultimate round of the series at Magny Cours in France on Sunday, October 6th.
Simon Buckmaster, PTR Honda Team Manager, said: “It is an exciting time for PTR Honda with Corey Alexander joining Danny Webb, Luca Marconi, Nacho Calero and Lee Johnston. These are all young riders with potential and ambitions.
“Corey obviously has talent and seeing how that translates to the World Championship will be fascinating. Danny is in the same boat; he is finding his feet in the series and wants to score points as soon as possible.
“Nacho made an improvement in Istanbul and he needs to carry that momentum forward for the last two rounds to set him up well for 2014. Luca is working to regain his top 10 form from earlier in the season but will also have to learn Magny Cours as he has never raced at the circuit before. We will be giving him our full support to score more points.
“It is great that Lee will be joining us for the last two rounds. He is a talented and driven young man and this will be a big step up in competition for him. We will guide and help him so he can get the best results possible and we are excited to have him as part of the team.”

MICHAEL JORDAN MOTORSPORTS TURNS IN TOP-10 PERFORMANCE IN WORLD SUPERBIKE AT LAGUNA SECA

MJM’S Roger Hayden brings home 8th, Danny Eslick finishes 14th

MONTEREY, CA (September 29, 2013) – The Michael Jordan Motorsports team took a successful turn on the world stage this past weekend when Roger Hayden and Danny Eslick raced their Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000s as wildcard entries in the FIM Superbike World Championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA.

National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s Hayden turned in a stellar performance on Sunday, getting a top-10 start on his Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 and moving quickly into seventh place. He set a strong pace and stayed in seventh for much of the event before finishing eighth.

“Racing World Superbike was a good experience,” said Hayden. “To come here and race against some of the best riders in the world, without making any changes to the bike was amazing. We showed up and rode what we had in New Jersey. All in all, it was a great weekend. I can’t thank the Jordan Suzuki team enough. They put so much hard work into this. To come here and get eighth on the Suzuki GSX-R1000 that we race in AMA shows how good the bike is and it was good for our series, too.”

Meanwhile, Jordan Suzuki’s Eslick also turned in a very respectable performance. On Sunday, he raced his Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the top 10 for several laps before a minor error lost him a few positions. Despite the setback, Eslick put his head down and finished the race in 14th.

“Racing against some of the best riders in the world in World Superbike was awesome,” said Eslick. “In Sunday’s race, I was around 10th when I lost the rear and almost crashed. I ran off the track and lost some time and wound up 14th. But really, I just wanted to finish the race. That was the goal for this weekend. So we held our own and showed those boys that the Americans can ride.”

In the 2013 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship series that MJM has raced all season, Hayden captured six podium finishes on his way to securing fourth in the overall championship point standings. MJM teammate Eslick brought home 10 top-10 finishes and wound up fifth in the overall championship point standings.

In AMA Pro Daytona SportBike, National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki’s James Rispoli suffered mechanical issues and was unable to finish the race. In the overall championship points standings, Rispoli was seventh. Having wrapped up the AMA Pro SuperSport season at the previous round, newly crowned AMA Pro SuperSport East Champion Corey Alexander raced alongside his teammate in Daytona SportBike but had a get-off and retired early for the day.

CELTIC RACING WRAPS UP 2013 SEASON WITH TWO RIDERS IN DAYTONA SPORTBIKE EVENT AT LAGUNA SECA

National Guard Celtic Racing’s Corey Alexander and James Rispoli completed the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing Daytona Sport Bike season together with a single race at Laguna Seca during the combined AMA / World Superbike weekend. Alexander arrived at Laguna Seca fresh from his 2013 AMA SuperSport East championship, with two podium finishes at New Jersey. Rispoli returned to Laguna Seca with strong intentions after a good outing at New Jersey where he was able to run in the top five and had two top ten finishes over the weekend.

Corey Alexander rode hard on his #23 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 in his first Daytona Sport Bike event. Alexander picked up speed with each practice and qualifying session, despite a vicious high side crash early on in practice. Alexander qualified a strong fourteenth, ahead of several DSB regulars, quite an accomplishment for the young rider from New York. During the race, Corey’s lap times kept improving, and his pace was over a second faster than when he had visited Laguna Seca earlier in the season. Unfortunately, Corey would wind up crashing out of the race on Sunday, while turning times at a similar pace to the lead group. Corey reflected on things with enthusiasm and stated “the end of the 2013 season is very bittersweet. When the year began, I was not even able to walk and less than 10 months later I’ve got my first championship under my belt. I also moved up to Daytona Sport Bike alongside some of the best racers in America. Though my DSB debut didn’t go quite as planned, I was happy with the potential and what I was able to learn, even in such a short period of time. My team worked hard all year, through the ups and downs and I can’t thank them enough for that. We started off the season strong, struggled a bit, and managed to sort things out and come back stronger than ever. I’m truly excited for what the future holds and I can’t thank my guys Mike, Tim, and Barry for building me such good bikes all year. Being one of the few Suzuki’s in the field, it’s even more of an accomplishment for our National Guard Celtic Racing team to show you don’t need to be on a particular brand to run up front or win races. I also have to give a tremendous thanks to everyone behind the scenes. Without the support of Chris and Jon from K-Tech Suspension and Skip from Orient Express, I’m not sure we would have ever been as successful as we ended up being. The whole reason the Celtic Racing team was able to run this year was due to the huge support from the National Guard and Michael Jordan Motorsports so I also cannot thank them enough for standing behind us. It’s truly an honor to represent both the men and women of our country as well as such an iconic figure as MJ! I have to give a special thanks to my personal sponsors who also helped get me through this year, Arai Helmets, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, AMMO NYC, MJRS Freeman Racing, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, Sportbikes INC Magazine, and Jason Pridmore’s STAR School. Also to my friends and family but, most importantly Uncle Richie and Jason Pridmore. I wouldn’t know how to ride a road race bike without either of them so they’re pretty important! Thanks to the folks at AMA Pro Road Racing for a great 2013, and thanks to Roadracing World, it’s an honor to win the 2013 Young Gun award and I can only hope to be successful enough to support the youth of racing at some point in my career. Thanks everyone, I’m excited for 2014 but for now I’m off to Europe… stay tuned via Twitter or Facebook: @corey5alexander

James Rispoli finished the 2013 Daytona Sport Bike season in seventh place, after a rare mechanical problem with his machine pushed him out of the race in 32nd position. Rispoli would qualify in tenth position ahead of the race, a strong grid position despite a crash. All weekend, Rispoli worked hard to push his #43 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 to the front of the field and though the results don’t reflect it, he made progress. Describing the race, Rispoli said that “Laguna was a tough weekend, we struggled from the start, and we didn’t have the best qualifying either. We worked really hard, and it’s unfortunate to have a mechanical in the race, but you know I’ve been working with the Celtic team for the last two years and I haven’t had a mechanical until now. So I guess I’ll have to take one and move forward. I really want to thank everyone on the team for all the hard work this season, and Jordan, and K-Tech, and Orient Express. Couldn’t have done any of this without the support of the National Guard as well. Many thanks to all my fans and supporters, and of course my personal sponsors for sticking with me this year – AGV Helmets, Dainese Leathers, Monster Energy, Spider Grips, Techmounts, and Jason Pridmore’s Star School. Keep up with what I am doing in Europe on Facebook and Twitter!”

MICHAEL JORDAN MOTORSPORTS TO RACE WORLD SUPERBIKE AT LAGUNA SECA

MJM’s Roger Hayden, Danny Eslick to race as wildcard entries

EAST TROY, WI (September 23, 2013) – The Michael Jordan Motorsports team announced today that they will wrap up their successful 2013 road race season by contesting the FIM Superbike Championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA, on Sept. 27 – 28, 2013. MJM’s Roger Hayden and Danny Eslick will race their Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000s as wildcard entries in the double-header World Superbike races this Saturday and Sunday.

“We are really enthusiastic about racing World Superbike at Laguna Seca,” said MJM Team Manager Pete Mauhar. “It will be a very challenging and fun opportunity for our riders and crew. It’s also a good way to evaluate how we stack up on the international level with the existing teams in the series. Because it’s a quick turnaround from our last race, we won’t have much time to prepare for this event and we realize we’ll be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage from the equipment aspect. However, we are genuinely thrilled to be a part of this event and are looking forward to an exciting weekend of racing.”

The 2013 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship season saw the MJM team come together and turn in a solid effort, with National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s Hayden finishing on the podium an impressive six times.  Likewise, the newest Jordan Suzuki team member, Eslick, brought home a very respectable 10 top-five finishes.

Heading into the Laguna Seca event, Hayden was fourth in the 2013 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship series rider point standings, while Eslick was fifth.
