This unique partnership cements a long-standing alliance between MJM and Celtic Racing, which will provide technical and logistical services for the program. The Army National Guard has participated in AMA Pro SuperSport over the past two years, giving young riders opportunities to further their racing careers. Fairhills Group, a New York based alternative investment management firm founded by Edward Bronson, has signed on as co-title sponsor of the effort. Alexander started his road racing career at the age of 13 after being selected as one of the 23 Redbull Rookies in 2008. In 2011, his first full season as a pro, Alexander won his first AMA national and went on to finish third in the AMA West Coast SuperSport Championship.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to begin to compete at the entry level, as developing young talent is crucial to the future of our sport,” said Kreig Robinson, MJM’s Vice President of Corporate Relations.  “We’re extremely excited to expand our partnership with the Army National Guard, as well as welcome Fairhills and Celtic Racing officially into the family.”

Racer Corey Alexander added, “I’m so excited to be a part of the National Guard Fairhills Group Racing team. It is truly an honor to ride for the National Guard and I look forward to representing hundreds of thousands of soldiers while doing what I love, racing motorcycles. I’m also very excited to have Fairhills as a new part of our program and sport while partnering up with the well-known Celtic Racing. I know we now have one of the top teams in the paddock and it’s my job to utilize all of these amazing resources to win some races! I also want to give a special thanks to Michael Jordan Motorsports for giving me this amazing opportunity.”

“To be asked by Michael Jordan Motorsports to run the National Guard Fairhills Group Racing SuperSport program is a great opportunity and honor,” said Barry Gilsenan, Celtic Racing team owner. “Celtic Racing prides itself on the development of young riders. We helped Corey Alexander start his racing career on the 125′s and have watched him progress as a rider. Corey is a great kid and we look forward to working with him this season.”

Michael Jordan Motorsports Races Onto the Podium at New Jersey Season Finale

Millville, NJ (September 6, 2011) – The Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) team and riders Ben Bostrom and Roger Lee Hayden got stronger as the season progressed and their hard work paid off, with podium finishes at the 2011 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey this weekend. Bostrom finished a very close second on Saturday and was fifth in Sunday’s race. After battling to fourth place in Saturday’s contest, teammate Hayden made an impressive charge through the field on Sunday to finish third.

Jordan Suzuki’s Bostrom had his best ride of the 2011 season on his Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki GSX-R1000, finishing a close second place in Saturday’s race after staying on the leader’s tail until the very end. Sunday’s race was a barnburner, with Bostrom using his third-place qualifying position to get a great start and trade for podium positions throughout the race. On the last lap, Bostrom ran off the track but recovered to finish in fifth place.

“It was a great weekend,” Bostrom said. “The Jordan Motorsports boys had an awesome bike. I came out swinging and the pace wasn’t so fast in this last race because there was a dogfight at the front and the guy at the front was trying to protect his lead, and it kept the pace pretty moderate. It made for an incredible race and probably one of the best races of the year because it kept everyone in it. My bike was really special and real fun to ride all weekend. It’s the most fun I’ve had on a motorcycle in a really long time. I really enjoyed that fight; the thrill and the adrenaline of never knowing where you’re going to finish. I was just enjoying the fight with everybody and hot dog, I wish they were all like that!”

In Saturday’s race, Hayden used his National Guard Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 to duke it out with older brother Tommy Hayden and Blake Young for the last podium position, with Roger Lee ultimately finishing fourth. On Sunday, Hayden overcame a poor start to charge from eighth place at the mid-point of the race to a well-deserved third place and the final spot on the podium.

“In the second part of the race, I had fallen all the way back to eighth place,” said Hayden about Sunday’s race. “I started moving forward with ten laps to go. I figured I better make a push if I wanted to get on the podium. It was a crazy race – people crashing and guys all over the place. I got lucky a few times; some people went wide and I slipped in a few gaps. On the last lap, I closed up on Blake. He had a moment coming out of the esses section there. I got a good drive and I tried to get up the inside of him there, but he was able to hang on and close the door. I ended up third – a pretty good race for me and a good way to end the season strong for me and the team; something to build on for next year.”

In the final 2011 AMA American Superbike Championship series rider point standings, Bostrom finished in fifth place and Hayden finished in sixth place.

Michael Jordan Motorsports Finishes a Strong Fourth and Fifth Place at Laguna Seca Raceway

Monterey, CA (July 24, 2011) – Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) riders Roger Lee Hayden and Ben Bostrom finished fourth and fifth in the AMA Pro Superbike race on Sunday in front of the largest crowd of the year at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA. Hayden fought hard for the third-place podium position throughout the race, while Bostrom rode to an uncontested fifth place in the penultimate round of the 2011 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship.

Hayden qualified his National Guard Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 on the front row of the grid and latched onto the leaders from the start, pressuring fellow Suzuki rider Blake Young for third place. With eight laps remaining, Hayden made the pass on Young, but Young stayed glued to Hayden and passed him on the final run to the flag, taking the last podium position by only .045 of a second. Hayden retains his seventh-place position in the championship points race.

“It was a pretty good weekend at Laguna Seca,” said Hayden. “We were pretty much on pace from the time we unloaded. The GSX-R1000 felt good, though it took a little bit of time for me to get comfortable. We had a strong qualifying session and got in the front row with third, which is important at Laguna because of the MotoGP grid with three to a row. I got a pretty good start – I was behind Blake (Young) and I was trying to get around him as quick as possible because I felt like I had a little more pace than he did and I could see the leaders getting away. About seven laps to go, I made a pass and I really tried to hold him off to the finish, but he was able to nip me at the line. It’s disappointing to miss the podium there at the end, but my Michael Jordan Motorsports team is getting stronger every weekend and I really want to thank them and the National Guard and my crew because they’ve been working really hard for me all year.”

Following his ride in the day’s earlier MotoGP race, Jordan Suzuki’s Bostrom went with teammate Hayden and the leaders from the start of Sunday’s AMA Pro Superbike race, but lost touch with the group and finished a strong fifth place ahead of the field. Bostrom holds onto sixth place in the championship.

“Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki was well capable of winning,” said Bostrom. “But the rider bit off more than he could chew this weekend. My apologies to the team and sponsors. I really look forward to putting the bike in its proper position in New Jersey. A huge thanks to MJM and American Suzuki for the opportunity to ride the GP bike.”

The Michael Jordan Motorsports team’s next event of the 2011 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship series is the season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ on September 2-4, 2011.

Michael Jordan Motorsports’ Ben Bostrom Scores MotoGP Wildcard Ride at Laguna Seca

Chicago, IL (July 18, 2011) – Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) rider Ben Bostrom will be doing double duty this weekend in Laguna Seca, CA during the combined events of the 2011 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship and the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. Bostrom has been enlisted by the LCR team to run alongside its rider Toni Elias when MotoGP returns to Laguna Seca. The MJM rider will also race, as usual, in the AMA Pro Superbike class aboard his Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki GSX-R1000.

The decision to invite Bostrom, a former World Superbike rider, to compete in Moto GP on a Honda RC212V is a result of the excellent relationship between the LCR team and the management of Michael Jordan Motorsports. The premier class of racing, MotoGP is gaining popularity in the United States.  The race at Laguna Seca is one of two MotoGP stops in the United States in 2011.

This is the second year in a row that the LCR team has enlisted an American racer to ride the team’s bike in MotoGP competition. Last season, Bostrom’s MJM teammate Roger Lee Hayden substituted for LCR’s injured Randy De Puniet at Laguna Seca.

“Words can’t express how excited I am to get this amazing opportunity to race on my home track in front of the whole world,” said Bostrom. “I have to thank Michael Jordan Motorsports and American Suzuki for allowing this to happen. The collaboration between Lucio, LCR and the MJM team has been terrific. I’m going to get on the GP bike and put it as close to the front as possible. Then I’m going to hop on my Jordan Suzuki bike and try to create even more magic.”

“The U.S. GP takes place at one of the most spectacular racetracks in the world,” said Lucio Cecchinello, CEO of LCR. “Because of the great relationship between our team and Michael Jordan Motorsports, we decided to invite one of Laguna Seca’s most successful riders to compete for us in the race: Ben Bostrom. I’d like to offer many thanks to the Michael Jordan Motorsports team for the great collaboration and the amazing support.”

“American Suzuki would like to congratulate Ben Bostrom for being selected for this one-off seat on a MotoGP bike,” said American Suzuki’s Race Support Manager, Pat Alexander. “Ben has been an asset to the Suzuki brand and we are happy to allow him this rare opportunity.”

The combined events of the 2011 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championship and the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix are at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California on July 22-24, 2011.
